Common questions about the Bot.
Will it work on my specific switch? +
If the switch can be pressed by a finger with under 1.6kgf of force, yes. That covers virtually all rocker switches, push buttons, and Western-style light switches. Big industrial breakers may be too stiff.
Can it pull a switch back to "off"? +
Yes — using the included add-on. The sticker mate attaches to the switch lever, and the Bot's arm can pull it back. Great for proper rocker light switches.
Do I need a Hub? +
Not for in-home use — the SwitchBot app controls it over Bluetooth from anywhere in your unit. You'll want a Hub 2 or Hub Mini if you want to control it from outside the home, use schedules that run while you're away, or trigger it with Alexa / Google / Siri.
Will the adhesive damage my walls? +
Yes — it's the same 3M VHB tape used on car trim. It comes off cleanly with a slow peel, and any residue rubs off with rubbing alcohol. We've tested on painted walls, glass, plastic, and laminate.
